Science
TY students have science lessons twice a week. In these lessons, we touch on areas students have visited at Junior Cycle, such as genetics, motion and the atom and expand the learning. We also visit new topics that interest students, such as psychology, the chemistry of colour and the physics of rollercoasters. A big emphasis is put on student engagement, and we incorporate topics that students are interested in, as well as a taste of what is involved at Leaving Certificate level. The story of science is important, and we look at where science has been in the past, where we are now and where we are headed in the future. This year, students took part in SciFest, developed their own interests in science and communicated those ideas to visitors to the school.
