Geography
The aim of Transition Year Geography is to recognise that Geography is relevant to our world and expand students' prior knowledge of how the world works. TY students are encouraged to develop a range of skills across the Geography modules, covering topics such as Geography of Crime, Natural Disasters, Ancient Migration, Cultural Studies and Biomes. The modules cover a wide range of topics with the aim of giving students a full understanding of the economic, physical, and human processes that are included in Geography as a discipline of study. Project work and Geographical Investigation skills are essential for Leaving Certificate Geography, so these skills are built upon during the Transition Year modules. Whether students choose to study Leaving Certificate Geography or not, the content covered in Transition Year is imperative to their understanding of global and local issues.
