The Government has introduced a new scheme from the start of the new school year 2024/25. Under this scheme all schoolbooks for students in Junior Cycle years (1st - 3rd) in post-primary schools will be provided to students directly by their school. There is no charge to parents/guardians for this, as schools will receive funding from the Government to cover these costs. Guidance has issued to schools on the scheme and is available at gov.ie/schoolbookschemes.
- All textbooks and copies will be provided to students free of charge at the start of the year. These books remain the property of the school for the duration of the school year – they are on loan to the student. Students must return all textbooks to the school by the end of the school year.
- Where students lose or cause significant damage to a textbook provided by the school, they are liable for the cost of replacement of the same.
- Students are responsible for all stationery needs – pens, highlighters, calculators, exam sets etc. The school will not provide these to students.
